Arthur Khachikyan: This is not delimitation, this is retreat and defeat
Speaking with Alpha News, PhD from Stanford University Arthur Khachikyan described the Armenian-Azerbaijani border delimitation process as a retreat.
“This is not delimitation, this is retreat and defeat. No one can explain to the people on what basis this delimitation is done, which map is used, and where these lines are. We say that Azerbaijan does not accept any maps and constantly makes new demands; that is, we constantly surrender.
Today we surrender those two and a half or three villages; after that, they will demand three more Tavush villages and also roads to those villages. Then, they will demand Tigranashen, or 10 or 11 villages in Vardenis. According to the information received, after that, they will definitely demand the Syunik corridor,” the political scientist stressed.
Arthur Khachikyan also noted that Turkey and Azerbaijan are reportedly building new roads toward our territory.
“Turkey and Azerbaijan will soon complete the construction of roads to our territory. I heard that some roads are already being asphalted in our territory, in particular the road from Goris-Sisian to Yeghegnadzor. Are we going to provide several corridors through our territory or not? Until now, our so-called leadership has accepted all of Azerbaijan’s demands. How long are we going to cede? Can we get an answer to that question?
No. Either they don’t tell us the truth or they start manipulating and saying things that the head of state shouldn’t say; for example, if you don’t want to see an Azerbaijani, plant a tree; these pillars will ensure your safety, we will withdraw our army and you will live safely,” Arthur Khachikyan said.
