Arthur Martirosyan: Goal of negotiators is to retain power
“What is the goal of our negotiators? If their goals coincide with mine and yours, then that goal should be to keep Artsakh Armenian, to continue the struggle for its independence and to neutralize the pressure of Azerbaijan, so that genocide does not occur and Armenians do not starve to death,” Arthur Martirosyan, negotiation specialist and senior consultant of CMPartners, told Alpha News.
“We have to look at the activities of our negotiators, where and what they are negotiating about. Armenia has chosen international platforms. The question is if you are not able to solve a key issue, why do you continue to do it,” Martirosyan said.
According to him, every step taken by negotiators is a mere formality.
“Einstein once said: If you have a goal, but you don’t achieve it and keep doing the same thing over and over again, it’s a sign of insanity.
I don’t think they are insane, but if they are not, the question arises: are their goals the same as ours? Of course not, their goal is to retain power, and all that diplomacy they are carrying out today is to show the people what a great amount of work they are doing.
But we don’t see pressure from the international community on Azerbaijan, and if it doesn’t work, then we have to change something in our way of thinking in order to achieve our goals,” Martirosyan noted.
