Arthur Martirosyan: Pashinyan does not understand that the consequences of his ‘games’ with Russia will be painful
The current Armenian authorities understand that they cannot withdraw Russians from Armenia at once because the consequences will be painful, Arthur Martirosyan, Senior Consultant with CMPartners, told Alpha News.
“That is why they are trying to work on the points that will receive a positive response, for example, in Armenia. Our leadership is trying to understand, through small steps, how Russia will react and what it will target. If they do not get what they want, they take another step. This is their strategy at the moment, but they do not understand that all this is very dangerous,” Martirosyan said.
According to him, Pashinyan does not realize that the consequences of his actions will be painful and long-term for us.
“The Russians understand perfectly well what is happening. They know to what tune Pashinyan is dancing and what goals he is pursuing. It seems to Pashinyan that Russians cannot respond too harshly because he is taking small steps. However, the consequences can be very painful and long-term. If you are the leader of a democratic country, you cannot take such steps without sufficient consensus,” Martirosyan said.
