On April 17, Armenian MP Khachatur Sukiasyan stated in an interview with a media outlet that the people of Artsakh did not fight in 2023. Moreover, the MP from the ruling party not only expressed his erroneous opinion about the Artsakh people’s struggle, but also justified the previous statement by Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan, who said that the people of Artsakh should have stayed and fought, the Artsakh Info Center said in a statement.

It is noted that with this statement Sukiasyan once again inflicted psychological distress on the military servicemen and volunteers who heroically resisted Azerbaijan’s aggression in September 2023, as well as on the relatives of those who were killed, went missing, or were taken captive.

“The Artsakh authorities strongly condemn the irresponsible behavior of Armenian MP Khachatur Sukiasyan, which fosters hatred towards the Artsakh people and promotes internal division. We have to remind once again that during the military actions initiated by Azerbaijan against Artsakh on September 19, 2023, 265 servicemen and 21 civilians were killed, 14 citizens were missing.

Glory and honor to the devoted sons of our Homeland,” the statement reads.
