The Artsakh issue does not exist in isolation; it is part of the greater Armenian question, which remains unresolved to this day, Zhanna Krikorova, Artistic Director of the Russian Drama Theater in Stepanakert, said in an interview with Alpha News, commenting on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that the Karabakh issue is closed.
“First of all, regarding the claim that the issue is closed—I don’t know whether any authority, which is subject to change, or any individual at all, has the right to close or open such matters. The Artsakh issue does not exist in isolation. It is part of the greater Armenian question, which remains unresolved to this day. For 110 years, Armenians around the world have honored the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. This genocide has lasted for more than a century and continues, making it a matter of a major crime against humanity. It cannot be closed by anyone’s will or words. These are simply narratives created on the Absheron Peninsula or perhaps on some British islands, and they are being implanted into the consciousness of our society,” she said.
According to Krikorova, the political technique known as the “Overton window” is being used—where any idea can be “implanted” into a person’s mind and eventually accepted as normal. She noted that the world is currently experiencing the death of the old world order.
“We are living through its agony. The new world order has not even begun to take shape yet, so let’s survive and see how things unfold,” Krikorova concluded.
