Authorities have carte blanche to act freely; West has given them that freedom – Vache Brutyan

The Armenian authorities are acting under external instructions, publicist and editor Vache Brutyan told Alpha News, commenting on the government’s attacks against the Armenian Apostolic Church.

“The ruling Civil Contract party receives directives from Baku. If they are instructed to arrest the Catholicos at the airport, they will do so. They are carrying out Baku’s will,” Brutyan said.

According to him, the authorities are pursuing the Turkish‑Azerbaijani axis’s plan to politically nullify Armenia.

“To implement this plan, all centers of resistance in Armenia are being dismantled. The Church is our spiritual backbone, which they are trying to break. The arrests of clergymen, the absurd charges against them, and all the attacks launched against the Catholicos have a clear political purpose,” he added.

Brutyan noted that the current authorities have carte blanche, with the West supporting them in every way by granting them freedom of action.

“The Turkish‑Azerbaijani axis stands behind them, because these people are its executors. Nothing will stop them, since they hold nothing sacred,” Brutyan concluded.
