Pensioners live in a completely disenfranchised and humiliated state, Avetik Chalabyan, co-founder of the “Hayakve” civic initiative, said during a rally outside the government building.

“Thank God, that absurd course they had adopted finally reached its logical conclusion yesterday. They admitted what was obvious to all of us—that in our country pensioners live in a completely disenfranchised and humiliated state, and their problems must start being addressed,” said Chalabyan, adding that this step is not only belated but also entirely incomplete.

According to him, the authorities are terrified that pensioners will vote against them in the elections, and as electoral bribery they raised pensions and benefits by 10,000 drams. However, Chalabyan noted, pensioners will take the money but will vote against the authorities in the elections.
