Azerbaijan does not plan to join EAEU

Azerbaijan has no plans to join the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said during an international conference in Baku.

“We do not have such plans, but we cannot rule out that this could become a topic of discussion in the future. Everything will depend on the additional economic benefits we will receive if we join. If we see [the benefits], we will make decisions. If not, we will be satisfied with the level of cooperation that we currently have,” he said.

Aliyev also announced that Azerbaijan agreed to the meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian Foreign Ministers in Kazakhstan.
