Azerbaijan believes that in 2024 it will resume face-to-face contacts with Armenia to discuss the normalization of relations between the two countries, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said.

“There were several face-to-face meetings in 2023, which are an important part of the negotiations, but there has been a certain stagnation recently. Face-to-face meetings are not being held. We believe that by 2024, such contacts will resume,” he said.

At the same time, according to Bayramov, “in order not to waste their time, the parties continued to work on a peace agreement, exchanging their proposals.”

Bayramov stressed that, in general, he is quite optimistic about “development towards peace” in 2024. “For its part, Azerbaijan, taking into account its legitimate interests and in accordance with international law, is ready to take all necessary positive retaliatory steps,” he added.
