The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has responded to the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s statement on Baku’s readiness to launch military action. Azerbaijan said that “Armenia attempts to justify its military buildup” and pursues “insidious policy”.
“Armenia’s insidious policy towards creating new tensions in the region and hindering peace and stability will not yield any results. Instead of such provocations and ideas full of political manipulations against Azerbaijan, Armenia must adhere to international obligations not in words but in deeds and contribute to the peace process,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry also noted that “the prerequisite for signing a genuine and lasting peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan is the cessation of the ongoing territorial claims against Azerbaijan, which are enshrined in numerous legal and political documents of Armenia, especially the Armenian Constitution, which explicitly refers to the Act of Independence of Armenia, calling for the ‘unification of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh’.”
