Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Vladimir Bruter commented on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that the legitimacy of borders is more important than allies.

“Armenia does not accept Russia as an ally; this is understandable. As for the legitimacy of the borders, Pashinyan has already surrendered so much that he can no longer talk about anything else. Of course, he will not talk about how he surrendered everything and how bad he is. That’s why he is talking about the legitimacy of borders. When he criticizes Russia for not helping him in the conflict with Azerbaijan, he is not talking about the legitimacy of the borders. He says Russia has not fulfilled its allied obligations. That is, in that case, he is not for the legitimacy of the borders, but now he is for the legitimacy of the borders. Basically, Russia does not interfere in the internal politics of its allied states,” Bruter said.

According to the expert, Azerbaijan will demand a corridor to Nakhichevan next.

“Azerbaijan’s demands go beyond what Armenia is now ready to give. Nevertheless, we see that Armenia is gradually surrendering land; that’s why this will continue. Azerbaijan will demand a corridor to Nakhichevan. This is a topic that Azerbaijan is very interested in, and they will push it through in every possible way,” Bruter concluded.
