Azerbaijan will not stop with just those Armenian prisoners currently held in Baku — Kristine Vardanyan
Being convicted in a Baku prison is a disgrace for every Armenian, Kristine Vardanyan, the head of the ARF-D public relations office in Armenia, told Alpha News.
“Azerbaijan demands more. It has a list of Armenians it wants to see in Baku prisons. Let me remind you that the other day the Azerbaijani prosecutor’s office appealed to the Armenian prosecutor’s office with a call to cooperate and convict the Armenians in the Baku prison. We can only imagine what this could possibly mean,” Vardanyan said.
According to Vardanyan, Azerbaijan considers not only the military but all Armenians in general to be criminals.
“Azerbaijan considers criminals not only those people who have ever defended the borders of Armenia but all Armenians in general. Any Armenian who has ever visited Artsakh is a criminal for Azerbaijan. That is, we should bear in mind that we are all criminals for Azerbaijan,” Kristine Vardanyan noted.
She emphasized that even an international advocacy group cannot put pressure on official Baku.
“If the current government were guided by Armenian interests, then, for example, the COP29 climate conference could have become a suitable occasion for discussing important topics to clearly demonstrate how Azerbaijan violates human rights,” Kristine Vardanyan concluded.
