The Azerbaijani Parliament has responded to the French Senate’s resolution on Azerbaijan’s policy towards Armenia and Artsakh by adopting a statement, with 95 MPs voting in support and 1 voting against.
The Azerbaijani parliament states that until the French government “gives unilateral guarantees”, it should not be allowed to participate in initiatives and activities related to the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The statement proposes not to have any discussions with French officials on these issues.
It suggests freezing the assets of French officials in Azerbaijan, preventing French companies from participating in any project commissioned by Azerbaijan, withdrawing all French companies from Azerbaijan and reconsidering the political and economic relations between Baku and Paris.
In addition, it proposes to raise issues of “colonialism” and “war crimes” of France within the framework of international organizations, as well as to put on the agenda of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Organization of Turkic States the issues of “Islamophobic policy in France” and “policy of Turkophobia in France”, respectively.
