Azerbaijan’s official propaganda: Gegharkunik as ‘Azerbaijani land’

Azerbaijan is once again engaging in state-level Armenophobic propaganda, portraying Armenia’s Gegharkunik Province and Lake Sevan (which Azerbaijan calls Goycha) as “Azerbaijani land,” despite official statements about striving for peace in the region.
In particular, Azerbaijan’s Public Television (İTV) released a video excerpt from a recent report titled “In the Vicinity of Lake Goycha”, in which provocative statements are heard from the very first seconds.
“These lands have historically and long belonged to Azerbaijan—Lake Goycha (Sevan) and the adjacent Goycha district,” the presenter says, pointing to the territory and thus presenting Gegharkunik Province as the “historical land” of Azerbaijan.
