Speaking with Alpha News, Russian MP Vitaly Milonov commented on Azerbaijan’s recent attacks in Syunik. According to the MP, Azerbaijan is doing all this because it feels powerful support.
“This is certainly an act of aggression against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. This issue must not remain confined to mere discussions—we must conduct thorough investigations and secure recognition of this aggression through international organizations. Another thing is that Azerbaijan would not have done this if it did not feel strong, powerful support. Regarding the ‘Zangezur corridor’, some forces have long harbored intense interest and some have wanted to get it for a long time. Therefore, we must understand that now there is the CSTO. And Armenia does not need to call Paris on the topic of protection, because Paris will not protect anyone. They abandoned the Kurds, and now Turkey—France’s NATO ally—is eliminating Kurdish populations, despite prior French promises of support,” Milonov said.
The Russian MP stressed the importance of urging Pashinyan to engage with reliable allies to prevent future provocations.
“There is a CSTO protocol that needs to be initiated, and accordingly, we need to urge Nikol Pashinyan to turn to real allies to prevent further provocations. I am very concerned about the situation related to the Syunik region and the territorial ambitions certain parties have harbored for this area,” Milonov concluded.
