Azeri religious leader accuses Catholicos of All Armenians of calling for revanchism

Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Board Allahshukur Pashazade has made accusations against Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II. He said the invitation of the Catholicos to the meeting of religious leaders in Baku to be held later this year is currently under discussion, local media reported.

“At one time, I invited him to Azerbaijan. He came here and took part in a religious conference. Today, the Armenian Church led by the Armenian Catholicos preaches revanchism all over the world. Today, he cannot recognize that Azerbaijan has liberated its lands. They still do not agree that Karabakh is Azerbaijani land. We offered him to recognize this fact, and then we will invite him to Baku,” Pashazade said.

Earlier, Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin called on the Armenian authorities to abandon the defeatist approach and not to proceed with forced solutions in the negotiations on the problems that are faced, which will put the motherland in front of new security challenges.
