The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has strongly protested to the Russian leadership over the discussion of the Karabakh issue at the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Baku stressed that such discussions are unacceptable and are an attempt to use Azerbaijan as a tool in political disputes between Russia and Armenia.
The Azerbaijani side, through diplomatic channels, conveyed to the Kremlin a demand to stop any public discussions on the status of the region.

The statements of Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, who was the first to recognize Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, caused particular indignation.
