Baku court dismisses lawyer’s complaint and leaves Ruben Vardanyan under arrest

The Baku court dismissed the lawyer’s complaint and left former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan under arrest. According to Azerbaijani media, lawyer Afat Gaziyeva filed an appeal with a demand to revoke the preventive measure against Ruben Vardanyan.

The Court of Appeal found the decision of the court of first instance “justified”.

On September 27, the Azerbaijani Border Service reported that Vardanyan had been arrested while trying to leave for Armenia. On September 28, the Azerbaijani Court ruled on the arrest of Vardanyan for four months, accusing him of “financing terrorism.”
