Baku demands from Yerevan security guarantees, Azerbaijani President’s spokesperson says

Baku does not demand the opening of an extraterritorial corridor through the territory of Armenia to Nakhichevan, but insists that Yerevan provide reliable guarantees of traffic safety, Elchin Amirbekov, the spokesperson of the President of Azerbaijan, reported.

According to him, they understand that this is the sovereign territory of Armenia, but another question is how Yerevan will ensure traffic safety in this territory.

“We will insist that Armenia provide us with reliable security guarantees of every passenger traveling by train from the main part of Azerbaijan to Nakhichevan,” Amirbekov said, adding that if Armenia decides to delay this process, they have a plan B – the route will pass through Iran.
