Baku has not allowed consular access to arrested Russian citizens

Azerbaijan has not provided the possibility of consular visits to arrested Russian citizens, including Russian journalists, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a briefing.

She pointed out that the Russian side had requested that consular staff from the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan be allowed to visit the detainees. “Unfortunately, as of now, the possibility of visiting Russian citizens, including Russian journalists, has not been provided,” the diplomat said.
