Banning the Catholicos of All Armenians from visiting Georgia has caused enormous damage to Armenia’s international reputation – priest

The participation of the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II in the funeral of Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II have been an important step in the spirit of the centuries-old friendship between the two peoples and the historic ties between the two Churches. This was stated by priest Yesai Artenyan, Director of the Information System of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

According to him, the ban on the Catholicos of All Armenians visiting Georgia has caused enormous damage to Armenia’s international reputation.

“The authorities have once again taken an unconstitutional step by making an overtly political decision and restricting the duties and rights of the Catholicos of All Armenians in carrying out activities within the framework of inter-church relations.

All of these actions can only be described as unlawful persecution and repression,” Artenyan stated.
