Bogdan Bezpalko: The more unstable the eastern hemisphere is, the calmer it is in the western hemisphere
Speaking with Alpha News, Russian political scientist Bogdan Bezpalko commented on a statement by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin that all issues in the South Caucasus should be resolved only by the countries of the region.
“A number of states can, let’s say, provoke the Caucasian states, including Armenia, into a series of rash actions and a resumption of armed conflict, enticing them with some illusions. It is not by chance that France is mentioned here, because it is with France that the current Armenian authorities are now intensively developing military, political, and other cooperation. In this situation, France, by supplying weapons and training the armed or special forces of the Republic of Armenia, can provoke it into rash decisions or at least not entirely thoughtful responses to any provocations. I believe this is what Galuzin meant.
As for the states that can and should restore order in the Caucasus and protect the existing peace, which is quite fragile, then again, here we are talking about the main beneficiaries of the chaos and instability that some countries are trying to bring to the Caucasus,” the expert said.
Bezpalko also touched upon Turkey’s destructive role in the region, emphasizing its expansionist aspirations and games on different platforms.
“Of course, Turkey, as a state whose leader has pan-Turkic and neo-imperial ambitions, is not a country that is interested in stability in the Caucasus. It is interested in achieving its own goals, which are reflected in pan-Turkism or neo-Ottomanism, but at the same time partially coincide with the interests of those countries that represent the global West: Great Britain and the United States. They simply want to light the biggest fire possible in the Caucasus, letting everyone burn, both the regional states such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia and those states that claim a greater role, such as Russia, China, Iran, Turkey, and maybe even Israel. The more sources of instability there are in the eastern hemisphere, the calmer and easier it will be in the western hemisphere, from which it will be possible to manage capital, specialists, and industry. Accordingly, there will be order in the western hemisphere instead of the disorder that will be observed in the eastern hemisphere,” Bezpalko concluded.
