Narek Karapetyan, a member of the political council of the Strong Armenia party, addressed the question of Armenia’s geopolitical significance in an interview with internationally renowned blogger and business influencer Mario Nawfal.

“Our country is one of the oldest in the world, with documented records and references dating back 25 centuries — 2,500 years. We are located in a region that serves as a buffer zone between three great powers. The South Caucasus is a buffer zone between Iran, Turkey, and the Russian Federation. This is precisely why it matters: Armenia is the shortest overland route from China to Europe,” Karapetyan said.

He noted that from a logistics standpoint, Armenia is of considerable importance, particularly as a potential short-term logistics corridor between China and Europe.

When the interviewer asked whether Iran had indeed attacked Azerbaijan, Karapetyan replied: “I don’t think Azerbaijan is a priority for Iran right now. Its current priority is maintaining the stability of its governmental structure. By attacking Azerbaijan, Iran would gain an enemy or adversary in it, and the war would take a very different course.”

Karapetyan also warned that instability in Iran would send shockwaves across the entire region. “The entire Eurasian region would face the threat of uncontrolled migration, poverty, and supply chain disruption, causing enormous damage to Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and the Middle East,” he added.
