Samvel Lulukyan, a board member of the Central Council of Armenians in Germany, spoke to Alpha News about the Armenian government’s decision to remove the image of Mount Ararat from the entry and exit stamps starting in November. He stated that the move clearly reflects one of Turkey’s preconditions.

“They can erase the image of Ararat from documents, but never from our hearts,” he said.

According to Lulukyan, with the stamp from which Ararat was removed, the Armenian authorities put an end to the Genocide recognition process. “Genocide is not only physical destruction but also the eradication of our language, faith, and our most important symbols,” he said.

He also expressed hope that Armenians—both in Armenia and in the Diaspora—will resist this anti-national phenomenon.
