Capitulation is presented as peace and sold to public – Alen Ghevondyan

Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Alen Ghevondyan addressed the recent sociological surveys and the current political situation in the country, noting that the published figures have “artificial elements” intended to foster public indifference and cultivate a culture of non-participation in elections.
According to him, although the institutions conducting the surveys are familiar with the methodology, the results contain distortions.
“These surveys are meant to disappoint people. They want to instill the idea that everything has already been decided, the ratings are fixed, and resistance is pointless. This is a propaganda tool that the opposition must be able to counter,” Ghevondyan said.
Highlighting the importance of voter participation, the political scientist emphasized that society should be guided not by the search for the “best candidate,” but by the awareness of removing the current authorities: “The issue is not finding the opposition’s best candidate, but moving forward with a ‘consensus minus one’ model. People must vote against, because first we need to eliminate the source of the problem, and only then try to bring the state back to at least zero. At present, our state is below zero.”
According to Ghevondyan, the opposition should focus not on the government’s loyal electorate, but on those who are disappointed and indifferent. “Forgiveness and the admission of mistakes are signs of strength,” he stressed.
He added that the authorities are professionally “selling” capitulation as peace. The opposition, he noted, must explain at the everyday level that such a narrative lacks real guarantees.
