On October 2, the Catalan Parliament made a statement on “the importance of ensuring the security and collective rights of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh,” and also highlighted the need of “the presence of international observers to monitor this.”

“The international community should prioritize the humanitarian assistance to provide care and decent living conditions for thousands of refugees fleeing the conflict zone,” the parliament said in a statement.

It also recalled that “on September 27, 2020, Azerbaijani forces launched a military attack on Armenia with the aim of occupying the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.”

“In December 2022, Azerbaijan occupied the Lachin corridor and de facto imposed a blockade of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh, which led to serious consequences for the population due to a shortage of food, medicines and other essentials. On September 19, Azerbaijan resumed its military attack, taking the republic under full control within 24 hours,” the MPs stressed.

The Catalan Parliament emphasized the importance of ensuring the security and collective rights of the entire population of Artsakh, as well as the need for the presence of international observers in the region.
