Catholicos has no option to resign – Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan

The Catholicos of All Armenians has nooption to resign merely because certain dubious circles are pushing such an agenda, Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, Chancelleror of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, said during a press conference.

“The Catholicos cannot resign if such a demand is made by 10 bishops. The Catholicos is elected by the National Ecclesiastical Assembly. The Catholicos cannot resign, and he has repeatedly declared this,” said Archbishop Arshak, expressing confidence that the Supreme Patriarch will not make such a decision.
