Catholicos made right decision by not giving in to provocations – Karen Kocharyan

Speaking with Alpha News, political strategist Karen Kocharyan commented on the latest developments surrounding the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Speaking about the authorities’ visit to Gyumri, Kocharyan noted that the city’s residents unequivocally rejected them: “We can say that the city rejected Pashinyan’s latest visit.”

According to Kocharyan, the Catholicos of All Armenians made the right decision by not giving in to provocations.

“Over the past six months, the Armenian Apostolic Church, in my opinion, has taken the right stance, as the authorities are trying to unsettle it and therefore resort to various provocations,” he noted.

Kocharyan noted that other representatives of the episcopate do not support the government either.

“The events in Gyumri showed that even lower-ranking clergy do not support them. And the fact is, unless the Catholicos resigns voluntarily, the authorities can do nothing,” he said.
