Catholicos of All Armenians extends condolences on death of Iranian President 

Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II sent a message of condolence to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, on the tragic death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their accompanying staff in a helicopter crash.

The Catholicos expressed condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Iran on behalf of the Supreme Spiritual Council of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, praying for the Islamic Republic of Iran to overcome such a difficult ordeal. 

On May 19, a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and a number of senior officials suffered a “hard landing” in “adverse weather conditions” near Julfa, in the northwest of the country in eastern Azerbaijan.
