Immigrants should follow the news to know what steps to avoid, said Irina Hovhannisyan, a member of the Armenian Bar Association, in an interview with Alpha News.
“We do not know what awaits us. We do not know the number of immigrants, including our compatriots, but as an immigration attorney, I recommend staying informed and following all the news, especially after January 20th, to understand what steps should be avoided during Donald Trump’s presidency,” she warned.
She added that Trump has already announced his intention to suspend many programs.
“Limiting deportation policies, closing borders, and suspending a number of rules are the top issues for Donald Trump. He has repeatedly stated that a number of programs will be suspended or limited. There will be countries from which a limited number of immigrants will be allowed to enter the United States. There are specific programs that Donald Trump has spoken out against many times,” Irina Hovhannisyan said.
The attorney recalled that during Biden’s presidency, immigrants approached the US border and tried to either ask for asylum or apply for another program. Because of this, the number of immigrants has surged in recent years.
