Speaking with Alpha News, Russian military expert Anatoly Matviychuk commented on the upcoming talks between the US and Iran in Oman.

“I believe a compromise is likely to be reached. The point is that the original treaty plan—initially proposed under the Trump administration—contained several intriguing points. One key aspect stated that Iran would cease the production of nuclear weapon systems, while peaceful atoms for the country’s energy needs would still be produced. I think that’s where they will negotiate and pursue this nuclear program. The outcome of these talks will most likely be a joint communiqué stating that Iran is conducting peaceful nuclear research under the supervision of the US or the IAEA,” the expert said.

According to Matviychuk, the US is unlikely to escalate tensions, and there are reasons for that.

“I believe that a forceful solution, which we are discussing today, is highly disadvantageous for the United States, as it would divert significant resources from its confrontation with China,” Matviychuk added.
