From September 15 to 17, the city of Nyborg, Denmark, hosted a meeting of the Conference of European Churches (CEC) under the theme “Towards a Christian Citizenship in Europe”, the press office of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin reported.
The event was organized by the National Council of Churches in Denmark in close cooperation with the CEC. The meeting brought together representatives of national church councils across Europe and member churches of the CEC. The central focus of the discussions was the importance of shaping and strengthening Christian citizenship in contemporary Europe.
With the blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, the Armenian Church was represented by Bishop Tiran Petrosyan, Patriarchal Delegate to Central Europe and the Scandinavian countries. His Grace delivered a presentation titled “Towards a Christian Citizenship in Europe: Reflections from Armenia,” in which he shared the rich experience and vision of the Armenian Church on matters of justice, dignity, peace, and the development of democratic values.
The choice of Nyborg as the venue was also symbolic: it is one of Denmark’s key centers of Reformation history and the birthplace of the CEC’s peacebuilding initiatives, which began in 1959.
The goal of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation among European churches, give new momentum to their mission in response to modern challenges, and promote the understanding and implementation of Christian citizenship based on the principles of justice, freedom, and dignity.
