Members of the US Congress are calling on federal authorities to impose sanctions on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and to take concrete steps to support the return of Artsakh Armenians to their ancestral homeland.
“The bottom line is that the people of Artsakh… have every right to go back, get their lands back, to seek reparations if they want to. That has to be part of any kind of agreement with Armenia. There has to be sanctions against Aliyev and the leaders who perpetrated this genocide,” said Rep. Pallone (D-NJ) during “Accountability 2025,” an event organized by the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) on Capitol Hill to mark the second anniversary of Azerbaijan’s genocidal ethnic cleansing in Artsakh.
Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) described Azerbaijan’s campaign as one of “the foremost human rights crises of our time” and urged his colleagues to end the practice of waiving Section 907 restrictions on military aid.
