Court of Appeal stated that delays in criminal proceedings against Karapetyan violate human rights – lawyer

The Court of Appeal stated that delays in the criminal proceedings concerning philanthropist and businessman Samvel Karapetyan are problematic and lead to violations of fundamental human rights, lawyer Aram Vardevanyan announced.

“The Court of Appeal, taking into account one of the demands outlined in our complaint, on December 11 clearly stated that prolonged timeframe of the criminal proceedings against Samvel Karapetyan is problematic and leads to violations of fundamental human rights.

Although the same Court of Appeal, in the context of undeniable political persecution, did not uphold our complaint, it nevertheless established such a legal position,” the lawyer said.
