Criminal case opened against Azerbaijani soldier who crossed border with Armenia

The Investigative Committee of Armenia reported the detention of Azerbaijani soldier Ruslan Penakhov.

As reported earlier, on January 28, at around 05:15 a.m., a serviceman of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces armed with an AKM assault rifle and a magazine case crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line at the border section of the village of Tegh, Syunik region.

A criminal case has been launched on charges of attempted sabotage, attempted murder in a way dangerous to other people’s lives, as well as attempted murder motivated by national, religious hatred, intolerance, and enmity; illegally carrying and transporting firearms and ammunition; smuggling firearms and ammunition; and illegally crossing the state border of Armenia.

All the circumstances of the case are to be determined.
