Russian political expert Andrey Nikulin commented to Alpha News on the “Crossroads of Peace” project proposed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

According to the expert, the “Crossroads of Peace” project makes no sense in the current situation.

“This project is now meaningless because, for its implementation, it will be necessary to completely normalize relations with both Azerbaijan and Turkiye, and to such an extent that they agree to open their transport routes through the territory of Armenia. In theory, in some wonderful future, this may become a reality, but in fact, given the conflicts surrounding Armenia, this idea is meaningless. Mr. Pashinyan must first come to an agreement with Aliyev and Erdogan and declare a solution to all problems. And then some kind of route through Armenia may become possible, but for now, this is empty talk,” Nikulin noted.

According to the expert, such statements are made to convey a positive agenda.

“Such statements are made because it is necessary to somehow hint, perhaps to notorious Azerbaijan and Turkiye, about the readiness to come to an agreement with them in order to compensate for the pressure from Baku in this way. Another question is that Mr. Aliyev now holds the keys to peace and war, and the answer to the question of whether there will be a peace treaty or not is in his hands. Armenia, unfortunately, is now only on the passive side.

The ‘Crossroads of Peace’, given the current situation, has no meaning other than propaganda and appeasement. Because to resolve the problems, you must first come to an agreement with Turkiye and Azerbaijan,” Nikulin concluded.
