CSTO is extremely important body, expert says
Head of the Department of Political Science and Sociology of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics Andrey Koshkin commented to Alpha News on the statement of CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov that the member countries remain determined to develop allied relations with Armenia.
According to the expert, the CSTO, compared to the CIS, shows itself to be a more viable and energetic body.
“Russia is doing everything to stabilize the situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, because representatives of both countries live in Russia. We have always been peacemakers. I can say this for Russia. The CSTO is an extremely important body. It was created after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and it turned out that it is the most effective body so far. A significant number of countries, which may turn to the CSTO in difficult times, pin their hopes on this organization. The CSTO, compared to the CIS, shows itself to be a more viable and energetic body. Russia is doing everything for both Armenia and Azerbaijan to stabilize the situation,” the expert said.
