CSTO proceeds from Armenia’s statements on ‘freezing’ its participation – Russian Foreign Ministry

Mikael Agasandyan, Director of the First CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that it is up to Armenia to decide the format of its participation in CSTO events.

“We proceed from the understanding that Armenia remains a member of the CSTO with all the corresponding obligations and rights. It is up to Armenia to decide the format of its participation in CSTO events—nothing is being imposed. We are guided by the position voiced by Armenia’s leadership: Yerevan’s participation in the organization’s work has been ‘frozen,’” Agasandyan said.
