CSTO says it fully retains its obligations towards Armenia

Despite Armenia’s decision to suspend participation in the CSTO events, the organization fully retains its obligations towards the country, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov told the Izvestia newspaper.

“Armenia has indeed limited its participation within the CSTO, but the main interaction mechanisms are still functioning. The work around the organization’s agenda continues. All CSTO obligations towards Armenia remain in full compliance with the statutory goals and principles of the organization,” he said.

Tasmagambetov stressed that if the Armenian leadership decides to quit the organization, it will be Armenia’s sovereign right.
