Davit Amalyan: If we achieve peace, we must find dignity in it

“If today the Stepanakert Theater after the—it pains me to say this—displacement puts on a play in Armenia, it will have an audience that will smile with tears in their eyes. This is a manifestation of further steps, because a fruit is born from these emotions, and this fruit again becomes Andranik, Dushman, Vazgen, and Vardan. I do accept what is called dignified peace, but if we achieve peace, we must find dignity in it,” the singer said.

According to Amalyan, he does not understand anything about the peace process, but at the same time, he does not want war.

“I don’t understand anything about today’s peace. Of course, even the biggest idiot at such a moment may think, hell, let there be a war. No, I’m not like that. I disagree. At the moment, I don’t want there to be a war. I am too small for my likes and dislikes to matter. I just think that sooner or later there will be some light,” Amalyan said.

The singer hopes that one day we will become stronger.

“There is a classic truth that the weak are always to blame for the strong. Unfortunately, we don’t have an indicator of strength for this situation yet, but I hope that at some point we will have one. We supposedly had a victory over the past 30 years, but it was not a victory. Having a victory did not mean being proud; on the contrary, it moved us away from victory.

Holding events to celebrate a victory when there was no victory yet took us away from real success. It wasn’t a victory; it was just a success. To turn this success into a victory, we must make a person. We must educate a person,” Amalyan concluded.
