“We have to express our full support to the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. We condemn all these actions on the part of the Azeri government,” Dimitris Papadakis, a member of the European Parliament from Cyprus, said in an interview with Alpha News.
“The international community must act now by sending concrete messages. I mean, we have to impose sanctions against Azerbaijan’s government. We have to send the message that as a civilized society we cannot accept this ethnic cleansing. We are going to push the European Council to start acting. This is a mission of the European Parliament. You know that parliamentarians stand next to the people of Nagorno-Karabakh,” he said.
Speaking about the initiative of the Government of Cyprus to accept refugees from Artsakh, Papadakis noted that discussions were held so that the people of Artsakh could come to the EU without complications.
“I fully support the initiative to accept refugees in Cyprus,” he said.
