There is no specific timeframe for the opening of the Turkish-Armenian border, the normalization of relations between Yerevan and Ankara goes in parallel with the peace process between Yerevan and Baku, a Turkish diplomatic source told RIA Novosti.
On August 8, the leaders of Armenia, the United States and Azerbaijan signed a joint declaration at the White House regarding a peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku.
“There is no set timeframe regarding the opening of the Turkish-Armenian border. As it was stated by President Erdogan, the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia will go in parallel with the peace process between Baku and Yerevan. We see positive steps in this direction. The whole region will benefit from the signing of a peace agreement between the two countries,” the source said.
It should be noted that there are no diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey, the border between the two countries has been closed since 1993 on Ankara’s initiative.
