Narek Karapetyan presented his vision for the development of the agricultural sector, emphasizing the importance of establishing a network of procurement centers and creating a predictable environment for farmers.

According to Karapetyan, the program is based on regional specialization. The Ararat Valley will focus on fruit and vegetable procurement, while Gegharkunik and Shirak regions will specialize in meat products, potatoes, and wheat. At least two centers are planned in each region, which will foster healthy competition.

“It is important that farmers have the opportunity to choose. When several procurement centers compete for the harvest, this will lead to higher prices and allow farmers to receive the best value for their work,” he said.

Another key aspect of the reforms is ensuring financial stability for farmers. The presence of procurement centers will make it possible to clarify pricing policy from the beginning of the year.

“Farmers will know at the start of the year at what price they will sell their produce. This will allow them to forecast expenses and profits without waiting until the end of the year,” he added.

Addressing the previously announced 300,000 new jobs, Karapetyan clarified that in agriculture the focus is not on sheer numbers, but on improving efficiency and profitability.
