The Armenian National Assembly Committee on Science, Education and Culture approved the ratification of the agreement on mutual recognition of documents on academic degrees in the EAEU member states.

The draft ratification was presented at the meeting of the committee by Deputy Minister of Education and Science Artur Martirosyan.

The agreement was signed on June 8, 2023, at the level of heads of government of the EAEU member states.

Its ultimate goal is to allow holders of academic degrees to carry out professional activities in the EAEU countries without additional checks and procedures, the Deputy Minister said.

The provisions of the agreement will also apply to documents on academic degrees issued before the entry into force of the said agreement, except in cases when, during the procedure for recognizing documents on academic degrees in the State of employment, a negative decision was made based on the results of the examination.

At the moment, Armenia and Kazakhstan are the only EAEU countries that have not yet ratified the agreement. The draft ratification will be discussed at the plenary session of the Armenian National Assembly.
