Elections in Vagharshapat will determine Civil Contract’s further steps against Church – Sevak Khachatryan

The elections in Vagharshapat are of exceptional importance because, beyond community issues, they also involve numerous political questions, Sevak Khachatryan, candidate for the head of the Vagharshapat community, told Alpha News.

“The Civil Contract party has directed all state resources toward the elections in Vagharshapat and is striving to achieve its desired outcome. They want to demonstrate that the residents of Vagharshapat agree with their policy toward the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin,” Khachatryan said.

According to him, the anti-Church group is awaiting the results of the November 16 elections, which will determine the path the Civil Contract party will take and what steps it will take against the Church.

“They have been regularly slandering and insulting the Church lately, but at some point they backed down, realizing their policies could negatively impact the election results. If they succeed—which I rule out—then the processes against the Church will resume within a day or two,” the candidate added.
