Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Robert Ustyan commented on the statements by the Turkish President about the invasion of Israel and noted that Erdogan wants to have his name written in history and makes such loud statements.

“Is it possible for Turkey to invade Israel? You do not have to think long, and you do not even have to be an expert on Turkey to say that it is impossible. But let’s try to figure out why Mr. Erdogan makes such loud statements. Firstly, these are the March elections and the defeat in them, which very seriously affected the Turkish president’s actions. As a result of this humiliating defeat, his party lost control over almost all key cities. This led to the fact that he is making all the efforts to restore his influence and his collapsing rating.

Over the years, Erdogan has created a synthesis of his electorate; on the one hand, it is a nationalist electorate, and on the other, it is an Islamist one, and the Palestinian issue is one of the key ones in the perception of everything that is being done today on the world agenda. Everyone in Turkey knows very well that almost every tank in the Gaza Strip is fueled by Azerbaijani oil, which goes through the Turkish port of Ceyhan. And to soften this scandal and inconsistency, Erdogan makes such a statement.

Besides all this, it is important to understand that Mr. Erdogan always gets great pleasure from being on the front pages of the world media when he is discussed and when his statements appear on the front pages of newspapers from the US to Saudi Arabia.
