EU support effectively turns into foreign interference – Badalyan on Kallas’s statement

Armenia must present a report to its citizens explaining what kind of foreign interference is being referred to, why it cannot prevent it on its own, and why it became necessary to turn to the EU, political commentator Hakob Badalyan told Alpha News, commenting on European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas’s statement that Armenia had asked the EU for help in preventing external interference.
“This is a request for money to cover government needs. Undoubtedly, this money will de facto turn into a certain electoral financial support that the European Union provides to Armenia. EU support effectively turns into foreign interference,” he said.
According to Badalyan, “there’s no such thing as a free lunch.” He reminded that today, when the EU must provide financial support to Ukraine, even in that matter it finds itself in a rather unfavorable position.
“The European Union will not give Armenia a single penny just like that. The question is: what political price will Armenia pay for the assistance it receives from the EU?” Badalyan concluded.
