Artsakh has been a birthplace of Armenian people even before our era, and the fact that the world did not notice this ethnic cleansing is really striking to me, US presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. told Alpha News, speaking about the ethnic cleansing in Artsakh last September and the forced exodus of Armenians from their homeland.

“I went to high school in Watertown, New York. And I had an Armenian girlfriend, very very beautiful and very smart. I was surrounded by Armenian people in Watertown, Massachusetts, for those who don’t know, one of the big receiving areas after the genocide. My girlfriend’s family has also come over from the genocide. I was steeped in what happened during the Armenian genocide in my high school years,” he said.

Kennedy Jr. notes that Watertown, Massachusetts, is the third biggest Armenian community in this country after Los Angeles and Fresno, California.

“I think Glendale is probably one of the biggest ones too. I used to hear about this tragedy—a personal tragedy for almost everybody that I met. One of the things that I won’t forget as president is the struggle of Armenians for sovereignty, integrity, and their right to reunify their country, including Artsakh, which since 200 BC has been a birthplace of the Armenian people.

The fact that the world did not notice this ethnic cleansing is really striking to me, but it is something that I intend to talk about and will continue to talk about, and I will use my powers to leverage the cooperation of nations within that region. I’ll do everything I can to peacefully reunite Armenia,” Robert Kennedy Jr. concluded.
