Fasting period dedicated to St. James of Nisibis starts today

Today starts the fasting period dedicated to St. James of Nisibis, which will last from Monday to Friday.

On Saturday, a Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in all churches named in honor of St. James of Nisibis on the occasion of the feast.

St. James of Nisibis is a beloved and prominent saint of the Armenian and Syrian churches. He was appointed the bishop of the Christian city of Nisibis in Mesopotamia in 308 A.D.
