The films of female directors of Armenian animation will be screened at the Film Restored Festival on October 27 in Berlin, the festival’s website reports.

“Between the 1970s and 1990s, four important women directors began working in animation, significantly influencing the development of the medium and bridging its transition into Armenia’s post-Soviet era.

This program of ten films provides insights into the work of Elvira Avakyan, Gayane Martirosyan, Naira Muradyan, and Lyudmila Sahakyants, who have enriched this art form not only with their highly idiosyncratic stylistic sensibilities but also with new concerns addressing contemporary life, politics and technology,” the program of the festival reads.

Sona Karapoghosyan, a member of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI), will speak about Armenian cinematography before the screening.
